So there are about a thousand different hummus recipes out there and almost all of them are different in some way. After browsing the internet for a while and consulting a cookbook, I decided to grab a can of beans and a handful of spices and just go for it. It’s the Greek way after all! (Aside from consulting Ya Ya.) The end result is good, with a small kick of garlic.
The recipe may seem simple, but don’t worry, the result has been Greek approved.
Quick, Easy & Yummus Hummus Recipe
- 1 can chickpeas garbanzo beans (drained but save the juice)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 clove garlic
- ½ tsp basil
- ¼ tsp oregano
- ¼ tsp pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp cumin
- 1 tbps raw apple cider vinegar
- dash sea salt
Add all of the ingredients to a food processor and blend thoroughly. Add the leftover juice from the beans if the hummus is too thick. I added maybe a tablespoon to get it nice and smooth. Stop and mix the hummus periodically to be sure it is all blended. Taste test it to be sure you like it, refrigerate and enjoy with pita bread or chips!
